An interesting week!

Saturday - Jon and I had our first big date since Chance was born. The best part was that the fancy candlelit dinner was located in our very own dining room! We put Chance to bed, set the table with fine china and crystal, made dinner and then got dressed up! It was really fun to feel like we were on a real date and feel good knowing our son was safe and sound too! Big thanks to Chance for cooperating!
Sunday - I woke up with my whole body itching terribly!! I started to think maybe I was having a reaction to the salmon I'd eaten the night before. I got hives all over my body and my lips and mouth started to swell. To make a long story short I'm doing much better now and found out that it was likely triggered by hormones. I find it so fascinating how complex our bodies are!
Wednesday - Chance has a new cousin! Jon's sister, Jennifer, delivered a healthy baby girl on Aug 11 (her actual due date!) Welcome to the world Michaela Joy Smith!! Our hearts are overjoyed for the whole family! And what an honor that her name is after her uncle Jonathan Michael!
I couldn't sleep last night because I was busy thinking about when we welcomed our baby into the world! I thought about all the hours upon hours I've spent starring at our precious son as he sleeps, learns something new, or giggles! I feel so greatful and blessed that God has given us such a perfect and healthy little miracle! I can't stop rejoicing for this gift! I am not deserving of any of the bountiful blessings he has bestowed on us, but I am so very thankful! Our prayer is that the Lord will continue to protect Chance and help us raise our son to be the man God has created him to be!
But in the mean time he's only 5 months old and we are loving every minute with him! I look forward to seeing his smiling face every morning-- even if he decides he needs to be awake at 5am! There is nothing more I'd rather do!!
