2 WEEK CHECK UP

It was a chilly, windy day when we headed to the doctor so I gave Chance his bath and dressed him in an adorable blue cable knit outfit. He looked beyond adorable. (thanks Jen for passing down the cute outfit.)
Chance is doing great!! He has now passed his birth weight!! He weighed 6#15.5 oz and 19.5 inches. The doctor said he can go as long as he wants during the night between feeds now and we don't have to wake him. Of course Chance typically wakes on his own anyway. He's such a good eater! Yay for a healthy boy!!

Chance likes the boppy pillow!

Chance does not like to be on his back, but if we need to put him down for a minute he likes the boppy pillow. He won't sleep in his bassinet at all, but he will sleep in the napper part of the pack 'n play. Thank goodness for that! I think he just loves to be held and will only sleep if he thinks he's still in someone's arms. Honestly, it works out okay because we love holding him all the time, however, at night we do need to attempt to get a little bit of sleep. Jon has gone back to work this week so he has to function on full metal capacity and needs more sleep. He has been so sweet though and will give a bottle with pumped milk for the 5am feed before he heads to work. Of course I can't ever sleep though any of Chance's little whimpers (which means no sleep for me) so I get the privilege of seeing how precious they are together!! God has blessed us so much!

VISITORS...

Chance has enjoyed spending time with his Gunny (my mom), my brother Nick and his girlfriend Gaylen. It was so nice of family to make the trip to visit the newest member of the family. Chance has truly enjoyed getting to know his family and getting cuddled by even more people! We're looking forward to this coming week when Jon's parents will travel to meet their grandson too!! He is such a lucky little boy to have so many people in his life that love him!! Check out his big grin while he is playing with Gunny...love it!

A WEEK OF FIRSTS....

FIRST BATH...
Our first day home we had an appointment with our Pediatrician, so as new parents we tried to figure out how to get ourselves ready, fed and prepared, as well as getting our new son ready for our first real outing. Thank you so much to my mom for helping us for the big day. We had fun giving Chance his first bath at his new home. He actually was very good and I couldn't resist getting some pics of our precious boy. (Notice I never did have time to dry my hair. Oh how things have changed)

FIRST DR. VISIT...
We were off for our first doctor's visit and Jon and I were SO PROUD to get Chance out of the car and carry him into that office!! We took pictures while in the waiting room and then more pictures when the doctor was doing her exam. She was impressed by how strong he was too! She even agreed with us that he was perfect...a beautiful, strong, healthy boy! God is so good to give us such a miracle. We have hoped, dreamed and prayed for this child for so long that it feels surreal at times that he is finally here in our arms.

BRINGING OUR BABY BOY HOME!!!

I was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. Chance, however, had to stay in the hospital for phototherapy for his jaundice. We feel blessed that the hospital allowed us to stay in our own room to take care of Chance while he got the treatment. It was so heartbreaking to not be able to hold him whenever he whimpered and only have him out for 30min to feed. He was particularly unhappy about the blindfolds over his eyes. He's such a curious little guy and loves just looking around. They kept rechecking his bilirubin to find out when we would be able to bring him home. Finally, we got some good results Thursday night and we were all able to come home. We were SO thankful to finally leave the hospital! Chance looked extra cute in his going home outfit! (Thanks Jena for the truly adorable hat!)

Hospital Stay

Sorry I haven't been good about keeping friends, family posted on all the exciting things going on with our precious new baby. I promised to try to get some up to date info and pics asap...so here you go!

Meet our sweet son: Chance Major Crockett

What an exciting night!! I've said all along this child was a night owl and I was right! Last night around 11pm I was in bed trying to go to sleep and my water broke. I awoke Jon and after speaking to the doctor we gathered our bags and headed for the hospital. They started pitocin since my water was broken and I wasn't having any contractions on my own. I progressed from 1cm to 4cm in 2 hours with contractions every 1.5-2 minutes. About that time I requested an epidural....which was wonderful for contractions, but didn't help when pushing. Chance was so cooperative though and came into the world after only 11 pushes at 9:57am. He weighed 6# 13 oz and was 19 inches long. Thank the Lord, he is a strong, healthy, beautiful baby boy! Jon and i aren't really sure who he looks like yet. Sometimes he looks just like Jon and others times he looks more like me. here are some pictures of our miracle straight from heaven. Many, many thanks for your prayers. We couldn't possibly feel more blessed.
Here are a few pictures from today. Will try to post more soon. But wanted to share a few with everyone.

Last minute details...

Just want to say a thanks to the Gainesville fire department. They were so informative and helpful when I went by to get the car seat checked. They gave helpful information about car seat and child safety in the car. What a wonderful service they provide to help keep our babies safe!
I also met with Haymarket Pediatrics and I think I'm going to use them as our pediatrician. I had a pretty long list of questions and the doctor took time to answer everything as well as getting to know our growing family!
We have all the doctors and hospital phone numbers programmed in our phones. Also, Jon gave me a list of numbers so that I will be able to get in touch with him wherever he is. I guess you could say we are as ready as we can be for the big day!!

38 WEEKS!!

Sorry, there is nothing to report from our doctor's visit this week. There were absolutely no changes in anything. We're thankful for the healthy baby and now that he's 38 weeks I've given him full permission to make his debut any day now! It will be interesting to see what his time table is. Let me know (if you haven't already) what your predictions are for a due date and his weight too!

As I mentioned in my previous post I was having a lot of pain in my groin, which the doctor attributed to the baby's head putting pressure on nerves. Well, I managed to make matters worse as I demonstrated my graceful behavior at dinner last Tuesday night. I slipped on some tile and my legs tried to do the splitz. Luckily, Jon was there to catch me so I didn't go down completely. After that i couldn't move, let alone put pressure on my leg. Jon carefully got me to the car and we went home. (so much for our anniversary date night out.) I was on crutches for several days and used ice and heat to help with some bruising, swelling, and muscle recovery. I'm now moving like a 90 year old woman trying to get around, but I'm so thankful I've had some time to recover before giving birth. Not sure how that would have worked if I couldn't move my leg.

We have our next appointment Monday...hopefully there will be some progress indicating labor is near!!

OUR SON IS SUCH A GOOD BOY ALREADY!!

We had our 37 week doctor visit today. We saw the doctor in the practice that Jon and I both really like and trust...which started things off in the right direction immediately! Thank you for your prayers, because things look perfect! My fluid levels were at 11 (which is good.) He said the baby's head was "very low" but I haven't made much change with my cervix. I am 50% effaced and a fingertip dilated. The baby's estimated weight is around 6.5 lbs. The doctor was hesitant to give any predictions on when the baby may arrive, but he guessed that it would be close to the due date and he will be average size (7+ lbs.) I've gained 27 lbs, total, which they said was great (although it really feels like 40!) My GBS was negative, which I'm also happy about because I won't have to stay in the hospital for an extra day or get antibiotics during delivery!
As for me...I thought I pulled my groin muscle because it has been hurting to even move my left leg. The doctor said it's the baby's head putting pressure on all of the nerves, which causes a lot of pain. Even though it hurts, I'm just SO unbelievably thankful that our son is doing things right so far. It makes me feel like such a proud momma already!!
I've been trying to get the baby's scrapbook done this week, which is fun since I haven't done that in a very long time! I still need to get the car seat double checked at a fire station this week and I have an interview with a pediatrician next week. Several people have recommended the practice, so hopefully I will like them too.
Again...thank you for your prayers!! I just want to ask for continued prayers for a healthy baby and delivery as that approaches. Also, for Dr. Hodges to be on call when he's born. We both just feel so comfortable with him and really trust his judgement.
