Fun times!!

We took Chance to the neighborhood pool last week. He's been in the pool before but I think he's just now getting used to the concept. He enjoyed playing with us in the water, as evident by his happy face. He's been giving lots of smiles and giggles! This is such a fun age!!

Jon was working for Father's Day so we celebrated the day before. I got Jon's wedding ring engraved with our son's birthdate which is alongside our wedding date. Chance got him a personalized T-shirt. Jon's been sporting his new shirt very frequently. I think it's a hit! Here's a picture of my sweet boys!! Oh, my goodness I love them!!

Chance is trying to look like Daddy wearing his shades!

Our happy baby! He loves to play SUPER BABY!

How to calm a fussy baby...

Chance is such a good baby, but there are times when he's just not happy for one reason or another. These are some things we've learned work to calm our little man down.

Give LOTS of hugs and kisses!

Go outside or take a walk.

Give him a bath - or even just running water.

If you need to get some things done in the house or make dinner bring him along in his chair so he can be a part of whatever you are doing.

walking up and down the stairs.

All of this hopefully leads to one happy little boy!

Welcome to Washington DC

This weekend was so much fun! My friend Carrie was visiting and had never been to DC, so we went to see some of the important tourist attractions. MANY thanks to a nice security guard who gave us his parking spot right off Constitution Ave. We just asked him where we should park and he offered us his own spot. SO NICE! We offered to bring him some lunch for his generosity, but he declined. We were especially thankful because the weather had been great during our outdoor sightseeing, but once we were winding things up it started to rain. Chance was high and dry in his stroller while I was running with the stroller and poor Carrie ran while holding my broken umbrella above us (it wouldn't stay up.) It was quite a sight I'm sure. We made it to our conveniently located parking spot and got everything settled in the car and then it started to pour! If that nice man wouldn't have given us that premium spot we would have been caught in a total down pour! Thank you Mr. Security Guard!! Might I add that it was especially difficult to run all that way while cracking up laughing! Laughter with friends really is the best medicine!

Thank you for visiting!

We've been very blessed with friends and family that have traveled to Virginia to see our new home and of course our sweet son! Jennifer (Jon's sister)
Carrie (a dear childhood friend)
Erika (another childhood friend)
Thank you guys for coming. It meant so much to us!!

First Airplane Ride!

Chance did absolutely wonderful on his first trip on an airplane! He was so amazed by all the people, sights and sounds around him. I carried him in a sling so he could see the world and I had my hands free. I could just see the curiosity in his eyes as he took it all in. He especially liked the air vents above our seat! He laughed and giggled at that. Thanks to Aunt Jen for helping us with our first trip to Texas! We were on our own on the way back, but my sweet boy still did fabulous! Thanks for the prayers for a safe and happy trip!! Here are a few pictures. I was sad I didn't get more pics and get to see more people. We are coming back with Jon at the end of July and are hoping to introduce Chance to more of you then!

Chance meets his new BFF!

It was so wonderful to introduce Chance to my best friend's baby boy! There is only 7 weeks difference. I hope they are lifelong friends too! Congrats Ciers family! We love you!

2 MONTH CHECK-UP

My how time flies. Chance had his 2 month doctor's visit. He weighed 10#15.6 oz (25 percentile) and 23 3/8 inches (50th percentile.) I had a lot of questions for the doctor who was very patient with me as I asked about things like sunblock, sleeping schedule, cleaning products, and spit up. She does not think Chance has reflux at this time, however, he is spitting up after almost every feed (which is a new development....and the reason we are both changing clothes so frequently.
And yes at his 2 month visit he got his first vaccines. Fortunately, Jon was able to come along for the appointment. Chance was well fed and happy before his shots, which helped a lot! He did cry, but they were over very quickly. The second the nurse was done I picked up my fussy boy and gave him lots of TLC. BROKE MY HEART! He was a champ though and recovered nicely. He never ran a fever or anything following the immunizations, which was a blessing. However, he was VERY sleepy and difficult to rouse over the next 2 days. This made me worry, mostly because it was so very out of character! After prayer, consideration and research we've decided to do an alternative vaccination schedule. I believe children do need immunizations and they are a WONDERFUL thing to protect our precious children, however, I would like to spread them out a little more so his little immune system doesn't have to be pushed to the absolute max. So that's our plan for now. Next visit to the doctor is at 4 months!
